New Lindows deal aims to break Windows stronghold

'Lindows' has created a 'RevShare' (revenue sharing) programme which makes it very easy for computer manufacturers, large or small, to directly benefit from software and service sales generated from LindowsOS computer systems that they ship into the marketplace. With Lindows already being cheaper than Windows and retailers getting money back from using it as their operating system of choice, Lindows PCs are looking to become more and more readily available.

Intel launches new Centrino chips & promotes Wi-Fi technology

Intel have released a new chip and are investing heavily in creating 'hotspots' - zones in which computers can connect through the air to a network with internet access. These Wi-Fi hotspots are being developed in public places such as cafes and airports, with stores such as McDonalds and Borders looking to offer Wi-Fi time with selected purchases. Such developments point to the fact that wireless technology is looking to be the thing of the future - taking computing on the move.

New Computer Worm infects computers through offers of Iraqi spy satellite photos

A new computer worm is in circulation, preying on the public's interest in the current Gulf conflict. This worm offers the user views from Iraqi spy satellites but if opened will shut down anti-virus and firewall protection, take up bandwidth and spread by forwarding itself to users contacts online address books.
